Celebrities — their hips are just like ours!
- Posted on: Sep 3 2018
When it comes to hip replacements or other procedures, you might think about them taking place among your parents, elderly neighbor next door, or care center patients. What you might not realize is that people of all ages and statuses are receiving new joints to make their lives better, and if you are living with chronic hip pain or annoying arthritis, you might benefit from one, too. This list of hip replacement recipients include celebrities, and many of them have continued to have successful careers after a procedure takes place. Read on — you might have more in common with famous folks than you think!
Baldwin has spent quite a bit of time in New York City recently as a regular guest on Saturday Night Live. He’s also spent some time in the hospital after receiving a total hip replacement earlier this year. The actor’s wife, Hilaria, confirmed that the procedure went well, and I can imagine Alec will enjoy having a pain-free replacement hip when the couple’s brand new baby arrives later in 2018.
Baldwin is not the only funny guy to have a hip replacement. Actor Steve Carell, known for many movies and the hit TV show The Office, reportedly received the surgery when he was 51 years old. His reasoning? To relieve extensive pain from an old hockey injury, a common point of hurt for many of the patients I see. With that new joint, he might even be able to get back into rec league activities!
Actress Jane Fonda received a total hip replacement in 2005, and it certainly hasn’t slowed her down. The actress has continued to star in movies and the Netflix show Grace and Frankie, where her character also deals with the trials of aching joints. Fonda herself has also had a knee replacement, so she’s no stranger to the situation.
Although the singer kept his hip replacement hush-hush when it took place in 2011, Ritchie has since come forth to give praise to his procedure. He noted that his hip is feeling better (a common sentiment among my patients) and that touring was going great following the surgery.
